6 November 2002, 10:59  Tokyo holds on to modest gains

In Tokyo overnight share prices closed mixed, with the Nikkei failing to hold on to the psychologically significant 9,000 points level despite gains on Wall Street overnight. The Nikkei 225 index closed up 15.73 points or 0.18pc at 8,953.29, well off a high of 9,100.68 and off a low of 8,914.09.
Foreign investors remained on the sidelines due to a lack of any fresh policy moves that suggest the government might revive its weakened reform stance, with the local market remaining hostage to equity movements in the US, dealers said. ///www.fxcentre.com
