4 November 2002, 09:18  Australian dollar grows after weakening of US greenback

/www.abc.net.au/. The Australian dollar continues to break new ground.
The local currency has hit a three-and-a-half month high today of 56.16 US cents.
Around midday AEDT it was only just below that at 56.09.
Dealers say the Australian dollar received a boost on Friday night when there was a general weakening of the American greenback.
And this morning they say there was heavy stop-loss buying once the local currency had pushed through a key resistance level.
