TOKYO — Tokyo stocks closed higher Wednesday after bargain-hunting recouped early drops on jitters over the health of the U.S. economy and slides in U.S. equities overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 21.92 points, or 0.23%, to close at 9,642.61. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) was up 1.74 points, or 0.18%, to 947.37. //www.japantoday.com
