TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Household spending in May fell 1.6 pct year-on-year following a 1.9 pct gain in the previous month, the Cabinet Office said. The largest riser in the month was spending on household products, which was up 5.2 pct, followed by food, up 2.4 pct, it said. The largest decliner was spending on housing, which fell 8.1 pct, followed by education, which was down 5.4 pct.
