4 July 2002, 11:23  U.S. Shares Recover Late Wednesday

Broad-based U.S. equity indexes recovered late Wednesday after having been pressured again by further profit warnings, downgrades and continued concerns about possible terrorist attacks over the July 4 holiday weekend. The S&P 500 index ended up 5.89 points at 953.98, a gain of 0.62%, while the Nasdaq Combined Composite Index was up 22.28 points at 1,380.10, an increase of 1.64%. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 47.22 points, or 0.52%, to 9,054.97. //MarketNews
