12 June 2002, 16:44  U.S. import prices were unchanged in May

U.S. import prices were unchanged in May from a revised 1.6% gain in April (1.4% initially). Excluding petroleum, prices fell 0.1% after a revised 0.6% gain in April (+0.4% previously). Petroleum prices were up 0.9% following a 12.7% surge in April. Export prices fell 0.1% from an unrevised 0.4% gain in April. Excluding agriculture, prices were flat from an unrevised 0.3% gain. These data are friendly, but shouldn"t impact the markets much.
