LONDON, May 31 - U.S. President George W. Bush's chief economic adviser Lawrence Lindsey played down the latest drop in the dollar and said the U.S. still favours a strong currency, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition on Friday. "The administration's view of the dollar has not changed -- We continue to support a strong dollar," Lindsey was quoted as saying. Asked if he thought the dollar was still strong, Lindsey replied, "Yes." The dollar this week hit 15-month lows against the euro and six-month lows versus the yen. Many analysts are now predicting that the dollar's seven-year bull run has finally come to an end as U.S. assets lose their lustre. But Lindsey said the latest drop was hardly significant. He said that the dollar had appreciated in trade-weighted terms by 33 percent from its bottom in 1995 to its peak earlier this year and the recent slide put the dollar only three percent off that peak. "You know, off 3 percent is like a wiggle on a 33 percent trendline," he said, adding that it was too early to draw any conclusions that international investors are turning from U.S. markets.
