BERLIN (AFX) - Consumer prices rose 0.1 pct in May from April, and were up 1.2 pct year-on-year, according to preliminary figures released by the Federal Statistics Office. Economists polled by AFX News had forecast a 0.2 pct month-on-month rise and a 1.3 pct year-on-year rise. The results were based on figures from six federal states, the office said. The office said the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) in May was up 1.1 pct year-on-year and was up 0.1 pct compared to the last month.
