ROME (AFX) - Producer prices rose 0.1 pct in March from February and fell 1.3 pct year-on-year, the statistic office ISTAT said. Producer prices for consumer goods rose 0.1 pct in March from February and rose 1.8 pct year-on-year, while prices for capital goods rose 0.2 pct month-on-month and rose 1.1 pct year-on-year and prices for semi-finished goods were unchanged month-on-month and down 3.6 pct year-on-year. Main month-on-month variations in producer prices per sector were for oil derivatives, up 1.8 pct; while the main fall was for electricity, gas and water, down 1.0 pct mainly due to a fall in gas prices. Main year-on-year variations in producer prices per sector were for electricity, gas and water, down 12.0 pct; oil derivatives, down 5.0 pct; chemical products, synthetic and artificial fibres, down 3.0 pct; while prices for mining and quarry products rose 3.3 pct; processed non-metalliferous minerals rose 3.1 pct and leather and leather products rose 2.5 pct.
