After a start in negative territory, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Monday's session up 38.75 points or 0.37% at 10,611.24, off its day's high of 10,647.09. The S&P 500 rose 0.34% or 3.95 points to 1,168.26. The Nasdaq Composite was nearly unchanged at 1,929.49 (down 0.01%).
