The yen was little changed against the dollar in Asia Friday, as dealers squared positions ahead of the Group of Seven finance ministers and central bank heads meeting in Ottawa. The dollar initially scored modest gains above Y134.00 ahead of the Bank of Japan's policy meeting, but slipped back to stand little changed as the Bank held policy steady. The euro was also little changed from late New York levels, but consolidated gains against the dollar over $0.8700.
