TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said the
government has no intention of guiding the yen lower, adding that the
foreign exchange markets should move calmly.
"As for the recent weakening of the yen, it is important (that)
foreign exchange should move calmly. The government has no intention of
guiding the yen lower," Koizumi told the parliamentary Upper House
plenary session.
"Our finance minister will argue this point at the G7 meeting in
Canada."
