1 February 2002, 12:50 Welteke says further ECB rate cuts unnecessary
LISBON (AFX) - Bundesbank president Ernest Welteke said it is not
necessary for the European Central Bank to cut interest rates at the
moment.
Speaking to Portuguese daily Diario Economico, he said: "New cuts
are unncessary. Current rates are suitable for price stability."
He added: "We must wait for new developments before taking further
action."
