TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Japan's household spending fell 3.7 pct year-on-year in September following a 1.1 pct decline in August, marking the sixth straight monthly decline, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs and Telecommunications said. In the month, spending on education fell 18.2 pct year-on-year, followed by an 8.3 pct decline in outlays on telecom/transportation and a 7.1 pct drop in outlays on housing, it said. In the third quarter to September, household spending declined by 2.1 pct year-on-year following a 3.2 pct decline in the previous quarter, it said.
