COLOGNE (FWN) - The Institut der Deutschen Wirtschaft (DIW) said it expects Germany's GDP growth rate at 1 pct next year. It said that for 2001, GDP growth will be just 0.75 pct as the economy continues to feel the effects of the global slowdown. Two weeks ago, a panel of five leading economists who advise the government had predicted an expansion of just 0.7 pct next year.
