5 October 2001, 11:41 Japan's Monthly Reserve's Hint At Intervention Size
Japan's foreign reserves stood at $397.015 billion at the end of September,
compared to $372.21 billion at the end of August. The figures suggest,
assuming incoming interest of approximately $1.5 billion, intervention
of $23 billion. However, the figures do not appear to include
intervention of 27 and 28 Sept due to October value dates. That puts
data in line with reports that recent Bank of Japan intervention was
between $25/30 bln.
