The labour diffusion indices, which measure the number of companies that believe they have excess workers less those that believe they have too few, showed further deterioration in the September survey.
The central bank provided the following breakdown, compared with the June data:
All industries - 18 vs 15
All manufacturers - 29 vs 24
All non-manufacturers - 9 vs 8
Large companies - 24 vs 21
Large manufacturers - 32 vs 26
Large non-manufacturers - 14 vs 14
Mid-sized companies - 16 vs 12
Mid-sized manufacturers - 33 vs 25
Mid-sized non-manufacturers - 5 vs 3
Small companies - 18 vs 15
Small manufacturers - 26 vs 24
Small non-manufacturers - 11 vs 9

The actual indices contained in the latest report compare with the following forecasts for September released in the June survey: All industries - 14
