TOKYO, Sept 3 - Japanese Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa will meet U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill for talks in Tokyo on September 12, the Ministry of Finance said on Monday. Shiokawa and O'Neill are expected to discuss recent currency movements and global economic conditions at the meeting, which the ministry said was set to start at 9:30 a.m. (0030 GMT). O'Neill is scheduled to visit Tokyo after attending a finance ministers' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in China, which will be held from September 6 to 9. Shiokawa said on a Japanese television programme on Sunday that he planned to ask O'Neill about Washington's position on currencies when they met. Japanese currency authorities have been unhappy about a recent rise in the yen, saying it is not reflecting global economic fundamentals.
