New York, Aug. 31 (BridgeNews) - U.S. stocks snapped a four-day losing
streak Friday as investors cheered some better-than-expected manufacturing
data. Still, volume was very thin, with few investors willing to make
aggressive bets ahead of the long holiday weekend. The Dow Jones
industrial average closed up 30.17, or 0.30%, to 9949.75 and the Nasdaq
Composite index was up 13.75, or 0.77%, to 1805.43. The S&P 500 was up
4.55, or 0.40%, to 1133.58.
