Frankfurt, Sept. 21 (BridgeNews) - Business sentiment in the western German manufacturing, trade and construction industries fell to a seasonally adjusted index reading of 89.5 points in August compared with 89.8 posted in July, the Ifo economic institute said today. The data are lower than expected as a Bridge News/Focus Deutschland survey of economists forecast the August Ifo western German business climate index at 89.8.
The western German business expectations index rose to 95.9 in August from 95.0 in July, while the business evaluation index decreased to 83.3 from 84.7 in July, Ifo said.
The eastern German August business climate index fell to 101.4 compared to 102.1 in July.
