19 September 2001, 10:14  Koizumi - Govt to contain unnecessary economic turmoil after attacks on US

TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said the government will take all possible measures to contain unnecessary economic turmoil in the aftermath of the attacks on the US. "Although we have been closely watching forex and stock markets, at this stage they are responding calmly," Koizumi told a budget committee in the Upper House of parliament. "We are preparing for all possible measures to prevent unnecessary economic disturbances as a result of the attacks on the US," he said.
