Frankfurt, Sept. 13 (BridgeNews) - German July retail sales were rose a real 0.9% on the year and were up 3.4% in nominal price terms, the Federal Statistics Office said Monday. On a month-to-month comparison retail sales fell a real 0.1% in July, while in nominal price terms retails rose by 0.2%. From January to July, German retail sales rose 2.8% in nominal terms and 0.8% in real price terms, the office said.
The statistics office said the month of July recorded the second highest rise in retail sale during the current fiscal year.
Non-outlet sales, which include mail order and fuels posted the highest increase in nominal and real price terms on the year (nominal 10.8% and real 6.4%). Mail orders fell nominal 2.0% and were down 2.6% in real price terms, while fuels rose a nominal 32.1% and a real 30.2%. On a monthly comparison, sales of specialist medical, cosmetic and orthopedic goods, rose by 8.7% in nominal terms and 7.2% in real price terms.
