NEW YORK, Sept 10 - The dollar extended gains against the euro and the yen in midday U.S. trading on Monday, rising close to a full percent against both, as Wall Street stocks recovered most of their losses after an early plunge.
Sentiment soured on the U.S. currency on Friday after news that U.S. unemployment hit four-year highs in August, compounding market concerns about the U.S. economy's growth prospects. The surprise jump pulled Wall Street stocks to five month lows; U.S. equities opened sharply weaker as expected on Monday.
