10 September 2001, 16:01  Germany's trade surplus +34% y/y

Germany's 1H 2001 trade surplus stood at DM77.2 billion in the first six months of 2001, up 34% compared to the same period a year earlier, as exports rose faster than imports, the Federal Statistics Office said Monday. Exports rose 11.4% y/y to DM626.4 billion in the first six months of the year, while imports rose at a slower pace of 8.8% y/y to stand at DM549.2 billion. In the first half of 2000, the trade surplus stood at DM57.5 billion, on exports of DM562.4 billion (+18.9% y/y) and imports of DM504.9 billion (+23.2% y/y)
