TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Bank lending in August fell 4.2 pct year-on-year after falling 4.0 pct the previous month, the Bank of Japan said. It provided the following year-on-year breakdown of lending in August, compared with the previous month:
City bank - down 4.2 pct vs fall 3.9
Trust bank - down 6.6 pct vs fall 6.5
Long-term credit banks - down 9.6 pct vs fall 9.6
Regional bank - down 1.1 pct vs revised fall 1.0
Second-tier regional bank - down 7.2 pct vs fall 7.4
Foreign bank - up 0.6 pct vs up 19.7
