9 August 2001, 12:12 US June wholesale inventories -0.2%; sales -0.9%
Washington, Aug. 8 (BridgeNews) - U.S. wholesale merchants pared back
inventories 0.2% in June, marking the first decline in wholesale stocks
since February. Wholesale sales dropped an even sharper 0.9%, raising the
stock-to-sales ratio to the highest level since February 1999. The decline
in wholesalers' inventories partly offsets a revised 0.3% rise in May,
according to U.S. Department of Commerce figures.
