LONDON (AFX) - UK net new consumer credit totalled 1.693 bln stg in July on a seasonally adjusted basis, compared with June's upwardly revised total of 1.359 bln, according to data released by the Bank of England. The AFX News median of analysts' forecasts was for July net new consumer credit to have totalled 1.3 bln stg. June consumer credit was previously estimated at 1.314 bln stg. Within this total, credit card credit fell to 377 mln stg from 452 mln in June. The Bank of England went on to report that net lending secured on dwellings fell to 4.296 bln stg in July from 4.383 bln the previous month. Total net lending, which includes both lending secured on dwellings and consumer credit, rose to 6.144 bln stg from 5.654 bln the previous month. The July figure is the highest since the series began in April 1993. The BoE added that the value of approvals of new mortgage loans rose to 14.877 bln stg from 14.0 bln in June, with the number of approvals rising to 111,000 from 107,000 in June.
