30 August 2001, 09:57 European stock markets lower on Nasdaq losses and ECB fears
London, Aug. 29 (BridgeNews) - The European stock markets posted
substantial losses Wednesday morning, following a poor overnight
performance by the U.S. high-technology Nasdaq index and fears that the
European Central Bank will fail to cut interest rates Thursday. At 1045
GMT, the FTSE Eurotop 100 Index was down 22.71 points, or 0.79%, at
2,804.72.
