24 August 2001, 10:33 FOMC voted 9-1 on June 27 to cut rates; Poole dissented
Washington, Aug. 23 (BridgeNews) - Federal Reserve policymakers voted
9-1 June 27 to cut the Fed's key federal funds rate target 25 basis points
in a further bid to help stabilize the sluggish U.S. economy, according to
a written summary of the monetary policy meeting released Thursday.
However, St. Louis Fed President William Poole opposed the rate cut,
saying it could lead to higher inflation in the future.
