23 August 2001, 08:44  Japan's July trade surplus falls 57.9% on year to $3.51 billion

Tokyo, Aug. 23 (BridgeNews) - Japan's trade surplus in July fell 57.9% from a year earlier to 420.70 billion yen ($3.51 billion), the Ministry of Finance announced. The July surplus was below private economists' average expectation of 528 billion yen. The surplus declined for the 13th straight month, the MOF said.
