21 August 2001, 10:14  Japan April-June GDP seen down 0.9%

Tokyo, Aug. 21 (BridgeNews) - Economists surveyed by BridgeNews estimate Japan's adjusted real gross domestic product for April-June has declined 0.9% on quarter, or an annualized 3.9%, due mainly to drops in both private and overseas demand. The data, after release, is expected to prompt the government to compile an extra budget worth 1-2 trillion yen, they said. The January-March GDP was up by 0.1% on quarter, or annualized 0.5%, the Cabinet Office said.
