13 August 2001, 09:20 Foreign investors sell net 422.7 bln yen of Japanese stocks in June
TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Foreign investors sold a net 422.7 bln yen worth
of Japanese equities in June, reversing a net purchase of 1.24 trln yen
in May, the Ministry of Finance said.
Offshore investors bought a net 107.1 bln yen worth of domestic
bonds in June, after purchasing a net 520.9 bln yen in May, the MoF
said in a statement.
Japanese investors bought a net 176.7 bln yen of offshore equities
in June after purchasing a net 329.4 bln yen in May.
Domestic investors boosted net purchases of offshore bonds to 1.04
trln yen in June from 635.2 bln yen in May.
In the first half to June, foreign investors bought a net 3.61 trln
yen of Japanese equities, compared with net sales of 81.1 bln yen a
year earlier.
Offshore investors bought a net 4.72 trln yen of domestic bonds in
the half, after purchasing a net 4.20 trln yen in the corresponding
period last year.
Japanese investors bought a net 411.1 bln yen of offshore equities
in the first half after purchasing a net 450.7 bln yen the previous
year.
Domestic investors bought a net 2.69 trln yen of offshore bonds in
the half, compared with net purchases of 3.24 trln yen the previous
year.
