TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - The June current account surplus narrowed to 771.2 bln yen from 1.30 trln a year earlier, the Ministry of Finance said.
The ministry gave the following details, compared with figures from a year earlier:
Current a/c surplus - 771.2 bln yen vs 1.30 trln
Trade surplus - 906.5 bln yen vs 1.34 trln
Exports - 3.93 trln yen vs 4.31 trln
Imports - 3.02 trln yen vs 2.97 trln
Goods, service account surplus - 470.7 bln yen vs 971.5 bln
Capital, financial account - outflow 902.0 bln yen vs outflow 712.2 bln
Private-sector economists earlier forecast a current account surplus of between 720 bln-1.17 trln yen, with a consensus of around 1 trln.

The ministry also provided the following first half to June figures, compared with the previous year's data:
Current a/c surplus - 5.00 trln yen vs 6.68 trln
Trade surplus - 4.19 trln yen vs 6.56 trln
Exports - 23.79 trln yen vs 24.08 trln
Imports - 19.60 trln yen vs 17.52 trln
Goods, service account surplus - 1.44 trln yen vs 4.10 trln
Capital, financial account - outflow 5.68 trln yen vs outflow 5.37 trln
