Tokyo, July 4 (AFP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair has assured his Japanese counterpart Junichiro Koizumi that Britain will adopt the euro, a Japanese newspaper reported. The English language Daily Yomiuri said Blair had made the commitment during a meeting with Koizumi in London on Monday. "In an explanation of Britain's basic foreign policy, Blair told Koizumi that his country needed to become an important player in the European Union as well as the European monetary union," the paper said, citing unidentified sources.
