London, July 30 (BridgeNews) - U.K. consumer credit growth eased backed slightly in June from May, coming in at a net 1.314 billion sterling compared with May's 1.324 billion, data issued Monday by the Bank of England showed. The June data was, nevertheless, above analysts' forecasts of 1.2 billion sterling.
The figures also showed that mortgage demand remained robust in June, although it eased back slightly from May's highs.
June's net lending secured on dwellings was 4.258 billion sterling, down from 4.332 billion in May. The number of loans approved for house purchases, a good indicator of housing market demand, slipped back to 106,000 from 108,000 in May.
