London, July 2 (BridgeNews) - European stock markets were higher, led by a resurgent mood across the telecom sector. Companies such as Vodafone (VDD), British Telecommunications (BTY) and France Telecom (FTE) all rallied amid hopes the "growth" companies can recover after more than a year of heavy selling pressure. Italian utilities were also lifted by renewed merger activity. At 1540 GMT the FTSE Eurotop 100 Index was up 47 points, or 1.5%, at 3215 points.
