MUNICH (AFX) - The West German business climate index fell to 89.5 in June from 90.8 in May, and was down from 100.4 in June last year, the Ifo economic research institute said. The business assessment index was 85.5, down from 86.8 in May, and down from 94.5 in June 2000. Economists had expected the business climate index to come in at 90.0 points. The West German business expectations index was 93.6 in June, down from 94.9 in May, and down from 106.5 in June 2000, Ifo said. It revised its estimates downwards for May from 90.9 for the business climate, from 86.9 for business assessment and 95.0 for business expectations.
