20 July 2001, 12:53  UK June leading indicator 103.9 vs 102.6 in May - NTC

LONDON (AFX) - The UK leading indicator of overall economic activity rose for the eighth straight month in June to 103.9 from 102.6 in May, according to economic and financial research group NTC. NTC said the 103.9 level was also the highest since October 1993, indicating that economic growth will continue to accelerate into the first quarter of 2002. The latest rise came on the back of strengthening contributions from the yield curve, consumer credit, net lending and job centre vacancies. However, the main figure is subject to revisions as some components were still unavailable.
