--BOE: UK prov adjusted June M4 money +1.0% on May; +7.7% on year
London, July 19 (BridgeNews) - June's seasonally adjusted U.K. M4 broad money supply rose sharply on the month, climbing 1.0% from May and rising an annual 7.7%, data issued Thursday by the Bank of England showed. M4 lending rose by 14.6 billion sterling on a seasonally adjusted basis, which was well above analysts' expectations.
Repo market activity appeared to have distorted some of the M4 data, with reverse repos accounting for 9.6 billion sterling of M4 lending. The annual growth in M4, in percentage terms, was pretty much in line with that in recent months. June's 7.7% M4 year-on-year rise compared to the 7.5% reported in May and 7.8% reported in April, suggesting little change in the underlying money supply growth rate.
