BRUSSELS (AFX) - The European Commission is to analyse the Italian government's latest public finance proposals, made yesterday, said a spokesman for economics commissioner Pedro Solbes. The commissioner welcomes the Italian commitment to stick to the objective set out in its earlier stability programme for the 2001 deficit, he said. "The commission obligation is now to analyse the detailed measures and their impact. What is important is meeting the objective," he said.
