MILAN (AFX) - The government plans to raise 120-150 trln lire in
privatisation proceeds over the next five years, reports in the major
dailies said.
The government plans to raise about 20 trln lire this year from the
sale of public assets, according to information released by the
executive to employers and unions yesterday during the presentation of
the government's economic and financial programme for the coming years,
the reports said.
The government also plans an amnesty for the repatriation of funds
illegally smuggled out of Italy. The amnesty is scheduled to be carried
out with the changeover from the lira to the euro due next year, they
said.
