13 July 2001, 10:07  Japan June corporate bankruptcy liabilities down 63.2 pct - Teikoku

TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Corporate bankruptcy liabilities in June were down 63.2 pct year-on-year at 690.7 bln yen, Teikoku Databank said. The number of corporate bankruptcy cases in June was, however, up 0.2 pct year-on-year at 1,563, it added. This was the fourth highest number of cases and liabilities in June recorded since the second world war, it said. The largest collapse in June was Building Real Estate, which had debts of 94 bln yen followed by Yasuno Country Club, with debt of 61.2 bln yen. In the first half to June, corporate bankruptcies were up 3.7 pct from a year earlier at 7.2 trln yen, while the numbers of corporate bankruptcies was up 1.3 pct at 9,427.
