10 July 2001, 14:30 German government says 2001 GDP of around 2% "still possible"
Berlin, July 10 (BridgeNews) - The German government thinks real
economic growth of around 2% this year and 2.25% next year is "still
possible if economic growth performance recovers in the second half year
and if the situation improves further," the German Finance Ministry on
Monday evening said in a statement. The comment came after the
International Monetary Fund on Monday lowered German real GDP forecast to
about 1.25% in 2001.
