TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Bank lending in May fell 3.8 pct year-on-year after falling 3.4 pct in April, the Bank of Japan said.
It provided the following year-on-year breakdown of lending in May, compared with the previous month:
City bank - down 3.7 pct vs fall 3.1
Trust bank - down 6.2 pct vs fall 6.2
Long-term credit banks - down 8.8 pct vs fall 8.8
Regional bank - down 1.2 pct vs fall 1.2
Second-tier regional bank - down 6.0 pct vs revised fall 5.1
Foreign bank - up 30.4 pct vs revised rise 28.1
