8 June 2001, 10:26  Japan stocks up 1.2% boosted by Nasdaq rally, Intel

Tokyo, June 8 (BridgeNews) - Japanese shares ended the morning session higher as high-technology issues followed in step with the rally of their U.S. counterparts on the Nasdaq overnight. Positive earnings comments from Intel Corp. (INTC) also encouraged market sentiment. Telecommunication and banking issues also gained, while transportation, paper and pulp issues posted moderate losses. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 1.2%, or 161.32 points, to 13,438.83.
