6 June 2001, 09:28  Australia Q1 GDP up 1.1 pct from Q4; up 2.1 pct yr-on-yr

SYDNEY (AFX) - GDP in the three months to March rose 1.1 pct from the fourth quarter of 2000 and was up 2.1 pct year-on-year, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said.
In the fourth quarter, GDP had fallen 0.6 pct quarter-on-quarter and was up 2.1 pct year-on-year.
The median of analyst forecasts was for first quarter GDP to have risen 0.7 pct from the fourth quarter, with expectations ranging from a rise of 0.3 to 0.9 pct.
