BERLIN (AFX) - German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said the European Central Bank needs to "take its responsibilities" in formulating monetary policy. Speaking to the Bundestag lower house, Schroeder nevertheless affirmed the independence of the ECB. "We have no advice for the ECB as this bank is independent. We expect that it will take its responsibilities in making monetary policy", he said.
