26 June 2001, 11:36 Shiokawa - Govt to end yr to March 2003 corporate tax incentives
TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa said the
government will terminate the special tax incentives for corporations
that it laid out for the year to March 2003 but will avoid raising
consumer taxes.
"We have no plan to raise consumption and income taxes," Shiokawa
told a parliamentary Lower House committee.
"In the year to March 2003 and 2004, the government will create new
fiscal revenues, exclusively by cutting spending, especially revising
administrative costs and a range of government subsidies," he said.
