26 June 2001, 11:01  Nikkei closes 0.6% higher as investors favor old economy stocks

Tokyo, June 26 (BridgeNews) - Japanese shares ended in positive territory, as investors favored low- and mid-priced old economy shares ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, electronics machinery and bank shares remained top-heavy. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 82.35 points, or 0.6%, to 12,978.82 after temporarily recovering the key 13,000 line.
