TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Department store sales in May fell 0.4 pct
year-on-year, after being flat in April, due to a slowdown in corporate
demand, despite an increase in operation days and renewal sales, the
Japan Department Store Association said.
The largest decline was household products, which fell 8.0 pct,
followed by services, down 3.4 pct, and clothing, down 1.0.
The biggest riser was personal products, which rose 3.9 pct,
followed by "other" goods, up 1.0 pct, and restaurants, up 0.5.
